Every 5 years, the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, in consultation with the Attorney-General, is required to review the efficiency and effectiveness of the Transport Standards. It is specifically done for public transport operators and providers to improve accessibility and remove discrimination for people with disability.
On 22 December 2022, The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications released “The 2022 Review of the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 discussion paper”.
The paper is now open for a public discussion till 30th June 2022. If you use public transport or operate it, make sure you fill out the survey. You’re strongly encouraged to have your say if you’re a person with disability, a family member, or a care support worker.
You can find out more information, links to the surveys & how to have your say at infrastructure.gov.au
