A lot of fun is brewing at SCI Sargood on Collaroy this month. Your family (including children) and family members can now join you in the new Skills for Independence course this November. The program has been crafted to actively involve them in this three-day course.
Developed and led by people with lived experience, this course is designed to equip people with spinal cord injury (SCI) with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to further their independence and wellbeing. Throughout the course you will have opportunities to interact, problem-solve, share life experiences, and acquire new skills while also participating in inclusive outdoor recreational activities along with your loved ones.
So, if you are transitioning back home, progressing through rehab, wanting to upskill, or adjusting to a change, or just going through different situations; this program is for you!
Topics & activities include – wheelchair skills, transfers, planning holidays or staying away from home, promoting independence, assistive technology, kayaking and (hand) cycling / scooting (for the kids).
